UAE Golden Visa benefits
The benefits ICP and u.ae publish for a UAE Golden Visa are about the residence itself: a long-term permit with no sponsor, the ability to sponsor family including parents, and the ability to stay outside the UAE for longer than the usual six months. ICP also describes a six-month multiple-entry visa for eligible applicants abroad, and says the family may remain if the holder dies, for the validity of their own permits. A driving licence and a Fazaa card are not on that list. Each is a different organisation, with its own rules.
The benefits the Golden Residency pages name
- Long-term residence without a sponsor. ICP’s guide describes ten-year residency. u.ae still shows five or ten years by category, so confirm the term before you apply. That tension is explained on what the Golden Visa is.
- You may live, work, study and invest, and use the benefits available to UAE residents. The visa is not citizenship and not a passport.
- You can sponsor a spouse and children regardless of age, and parents. Domestic workers can be sponsored under the usual UAE rules. Fees and documents for Dubai property investors are on the family guide.
- u.ae says holders can stay outside the UAE for more than the usual six months that an ordinary residence needs. The limits, including expiry while you are abroad, are on time outside the UAE.
- Eligible applicants who are outside the UAE can be given a six-month, multiple-entry visa to finish the Golden Residency, and ICP says that entry permission can be renewed for another six months. It is an entry permission, not the ten-year card.
- If the holder dies, ICP says sponsored family members may remain for the validity of the permits they already hold. That is not a new Golden Visa issued on the day of the death.
Driving licences, Fazaa, and visa-free travel
These three are searched as “Golden Visa benefits”. Only one of them is a rule on the residence, and it is not a list of countries.
Visa-free travel
The residence changes how long you can be outside the UAE. It does not add countries to your passport. The correction is on visa-free travel.
A Dubai driving licence
RTA Dubai publishes a training waiver and same-day tests for Golden Visa holders who already have a valid licence. That is an RTA rule, in Dubai. See driving licence.
The Fazaa card
Fazaa’s own FAQ does not list Golden Visa holders. A Golden Visa is not a Fazaa card. See Fazaa.
Tax is also not a benefit of the visa. UAE tax residency and corporate tax are a different statute, on the tax page. THAJ introduces licensed partners for VAT and corporate tax. It does not provide that work as a THAJ tax service.
Frequently asked questions
What are the official benefits of the UAE Golden Visa?
No sponsor, a long-term renewable residence, family sponsorship that includes parents, a longer permitted absence than an ordinary residence, and the entry and bereavement rules ICP prints. Category conditions still have to be met.
Does the Golden Visa include a driving licence and Fazaa?
No. RTA Dubai has a published driving-licence rule for Golden Visa holders. Fazaa’s FAQ does not list the visa as a membership. They are separate applications.
Can my family stay if I die?
ICP says sponsored family members may remain in the UAE for the validity of the residence permits they already hold. It does not issue them a new Golden Visa by reason of the death.
Is this citizenship?
No. It is a residence permit. It does not become a UAE passport at the end of the term.
