Golden Visa for teachersICP categories, no invented thresholds

UAE Golden Visa for teachers

Teachers qualify only through a published category. ICP’s education-specialist route is a recommendation from the relevant ministry or local authority. The skilled-professional route is MOHRE level 1 or 2, a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, a valid UAE work permit and contract, and a monthly salary of at least AED 30,000. A school offer below that salary, with no nomination, is an employment visa, not a Golden Visa file.

Which published route can apply

Schools sometimes promise a Golden Visa in a recruitment email. The email is not the authority. Match it to a category before you resign a job at home.

Teachers: routes ICP actually lists
RouteWhat ICP publishesWhat this page will not assume
Education specialistRecommendation from the relevant ministry or local authorityThat KHDA, ADEK or a principal can be assumed to have nominated you
Skilled professionalLevel 1 or 2, degree, permit, contract, at least AED 30,000 a monthA teaching salary under that figure, even at a well-known school
Outstanding student or graduateThe student criteria, only if you are the graduate, not because you teachUsing a pupil’s grades, or your own old grades outside the student rules

The only monthly salary figure on this page is the AED 30,000 ICP publishes for skilled professionals in MOHRE occupational levels 1 and 2, together with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent and a valid UAE work permit and contract. This page does not invent a salary for a job title.

Outstanding students have their own page and their own cut-offs, including 95% at Grade 12 and GPA rules within two years of graduation. Being a teacher does not put you on that page. If you are early in a career and the salary route fails, say so. The student guide is only for people who meet those academic tests.

What a teacher should gather

Bring the contract and, if you have it, the nomination. Leave the school brochure.

Eligibility signals to gather before anyone files

  • Who, exactly, is supposed to recommend you, and whether the letter exists.
  • MOHRE level and monthly salary, if the skilled route is the plan.
  • Degree subject and level. The skilled route wants a bachelor’s or equivalent. A teaching certificate may sit alongside it. It does not replace it in ICP’s sentence.
  • Whether the school is sponsoring an ordinary employment visa in parallel. Do not let the two applications contradict each other.
  • Family members who need residence, costed on the family page rather than folded into a “teacher package”.
  • Attestation of the degree and any marriage or birth certificates. That timing is often longer than the visa step.

No teacher-only salary is published on the ICP page we cite. Do not accept a quote that pretends there is one.

Document themes

Document themes for education files.

  • Passport, photo, and current UAE visa or Emirates ID if any.
  • Degree and teaching qualifications, attested if required.
  • Recommendation from the ministry or local authority, for the specialist route.
  • Employment contract and work permit with salary and level, for the skilled route.
  • Health insurance where the category requires it.
  • Family civil documents, only when you are ready to sponsor, not as a substitute for your own eligibility.

Where a UAE authority asks for attestation or legal translation, that paperwork is coordinated as PRO work. The nominating body can ask for more than this list.

How an application usually moves

  1. Match a published category

Write down which ICP route you are using: a specialist nomination, the Emirates Scientists Council, or the skilled-professional test. Do not file under a job title alone.

  2. Collect the evidence that route names

Passport, photo, the degree or recommendation the route actually requires, and health insurance where ICP lists it for that category.

  3. Nomination or direct file

Specialist and scientist routes go through the competent council, ministry or local authority. The skilled-professional route needs the UAE work permit and contract in place.

  4. Authority decision, then residence steps

Approval is the authority’s. After it, applicants abroad use the entry window ICP describes; residents change status. Then medical, biometrics and Emirates ID.

Medical fitness, biometrics and Emirates ID follow the same order as every other category. Read the application process and the rejections guide before you book travel around an approval you do not have yet.

05

Family, the job, and time outside the UAE

A Golden Visa holder can sponsor a spouse, children of any age and parents, and ICP also refers to domestic workers. Health insurance for family members is an investor-category condition and is wise to have ready for other categories too. The permit is not an employment visa tied to one sponsor: ending a job is not described on the ICP page we cite as an automatic cancellation, but renewal still means the category conditions are checked again. Time outside the UAE is covered on keeping the visa while abroad. A Golden Visa does not admit your child to a particular school and it does not waive fees. School admission is the school’s decision. If you were told otherwise, treat it as marketing.

Frequently asked questions

Can teachers get a UAE Golden Visa?

Yes, through an education nomination or the skilled-professional test. A teaching job below the published salary test, with no nomination, does not qualify.

Does every private-school contract qualify?

No. The contract helps only if it satisfies the skilled route or supports a real nomination. Many teaching salaries are under AED 30,000.

I teach at a university. Is that different?

The category is still the education nomination or the skilled-professional test. The employer’s prestige is not a third route.

Can I sponsor my children?

Once you hold the Golden Visa, children of any age can be sponsored, with the documents on the family page. The school’s visa for you is not their Golden Visa.
